After years of hard work and planning for the cruise they arrive in the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia. After only a few idealic days in a remote cove on Nuka Hiva Island, they are attacked by a man and woman with a machine pistol from another boat. Wounded and bleading they hide under their skiff which is riddled with bullet holes, while the pirates make off with the Sterling's 90 foot yacht. Stranded and pennyless in a foreign country John and Susan set out on a valient but naive and dangerous attempt to recover their stolen yacht.
