Southern hemispheric variability and its association to Indian monsoon is an interesting topic, which is not studied in a detailed manner. In this background, the southern hemisphere impact over Indian region is investigated in this book. The book consists of eight chapters. The first chapter contains an overview of the southern hemisphere. The different types of data sets used and methodologies adopted were described in Chapter two.The period of climate shift, from the troposphere to stratopause was presented in chapter three. Chapter four depicts the recent trend and variability in southern stratosphere. The role of the Southern Annular Mode (SAM) in changing the tropical circulations like Walker and Hadley is described in chapter five. Southern extratropical connection to Indian summer monsoon through the modulation of SAM is presented in Chapter six. The Chapter seven deals with the modulation of SAM-Monsoon link through North Atlantic Oscillation(NAO.This chapter eight gives insight over the Indian summer monsoon variability due to the simultaneous effect of SAM and NAO.
