Good kings destroyed idols, groves, and heathen gods, and took away the high places of worship throughout the cities and the land. Evil kings set up new idols, groves, and heathen gods, worshipped them in high places, and even brought idolatrous practices into the House of God in Jerusalem.
These histories teach us about man's relationship to God as they function as a mirror through which we can gain insights into life in society today! Little has changed in the millennia between then and now! Society has been on a slow decline away from the Lord for all of that time!
