The objective of this study was to investigate unassisted home delivery in two neighborhoods in the Health District of Commune V of Bamako Mali. We compared two groups of women residing in two different neighborhoods (Sabalibougou and Badalabougou) who gave birth at home over a 12-month period, from March 1, 2015 to February 28, 2016. At the end of this study, we recorded 2020 deliveries at the CSCom of Sabalibougou of which 263 were home deliveries, i.e. 13% of deliveries, and 1962 deliveries at the CSRéf of commune V from Badalabougou of which 62 were home deliveries, i.e. 3% of deliveries. The proportion of women without schooling was 74.64% in Sabalibougou compared to 25.36% in Badalabougou, with a statistically significant difference of p=0.01. In Sabalibougou, 89.40 per cent of women had given birth at home for lack of financial resources, compared with 10.60 per cent of women in Badalabougou, with a statistically significant difference of 10-5. Action is needed to minimize this phenomenon by reducing the cost of ANC and delivery in health facilities.
