The association between the sugar consumption and dental caries has been well documented. Dental caries is the disease that is manifested as dynamic process in the mouth. A dynamic relation exists between sugars and oral health. Sugars and other fermentable carbohydrates, after being hydrolyzed by salivary amylase, provide substrate for the actions of oral bacteria, which in turn lower plaque and salivary pH.
