O knihe

Northern Uganda faced intense periods of insurgency from the year 2000 perpetrated by the Lord's Resistance Army that lasted for about 20 years. At its epitome, the region experienced very low economic and food production capacities as majority of the locals were deprived of access to their lands and instead forced to live in concentration camps on food aid. After the war, there was need to rebuild the economic base of most families through crop farming as one intervention area. Majority then ventured into sunflower oil crop production promoted by Mukwano (a private company) that mobilized, organized and facilitated farmers with production inputs under a contract farming arrangement while providing ready markets for the harvested sunflower grains. However, later a discontent arose from farmers that the contract farming arrangement was responsible for the unavailability of foods and no incomes in their households. This book therefore provides a research compilation on the subject, comprehensively deciphering the farmer's notion as the improved livelihoods and economic rejuvenation of small holder farmer's households was the end story.
