O knihe
Ghana, like many developing countries in Africa, upon achieving independence, formulated economic development plans including tourism to diversify her economy. By 1966, Ghana had created an incipient tourism industry. There was no expansion in the industry over the year after 1966. In fact, from 1966 to 1985, the development of the industry diminished and deteriorated so much that international tourism became non-existent. The book seeks to examine and bring to the fore the factors that contributed to the slow or dismal or retarded growth of the tourism industry during this period. From 1985, however, there was a sudden u-turn towards the development of the industry. It began to grow and became the third largest foreign exchange earner for Ghana by the year 2000. Again, this book would examine the sudden u-turn towards the development of the tourism industry and factors that contributed to the upward growth of the industry.
