O knihe

Today's world is hard to imagine without engineering systems, devices that make our lives easier and more exciting. Moreover, they are so firmly embedded in our everyday life that we most likely won't be able to live a day without them. Is it any wonder that engineering occupations of all kinds are in great demand in the labor market, they are highly paid, and the training of future engineers is a subject of particular importance for the governments of many countries? This paper focuses on the training of engineers for the railway industry in Great Britain. It describes the systems of accreditation of educational programs and the bodies that supervise the compliance of programs with these systems. Based on the analysis of a wide range of primary sources the author describes the stages of certification of professional engineers and highlights the main international agreements governing the mutual recognition of engineering qualifications and professional competencies. This work is of interest both for researchers in the field of professional education and for a wide range of readers.
