O knihe

The present study is a comparative one, attempting to discuss the call for political and social change in some selected plays of the Anglo-Quebecer playwright David Fennario (1947- ), and the Egyptian playwright Alfred Farag (1929 - 2004).The study examines this call for change in Fennario's Balconville (1980), On the Job (1978), and Nothing to Lose (1979). Additionally, the study also tackles Alfred Farag's El-Nar wal Ziatun (1970), Zawajala Waraqat Talaq (1973), and Ali Janah al-Tabrizi wa Tabiuh Quffa (1969). Both Fennario and Farag are Marxist playwrights who are concerned with the issues of the poor working class. They both have attempted to reveal the exploitation and the victimization of the poor working class at the hands of the capitalist system. Their characters succeed in overcoming the imperialist and the capitalist system through various themes and techniques. This study tries to show how Fennario and Farag use special forms and techniques to convey their message of the necessity of political and social change.
