O knihe
This book unravels the view of the history of Mexico developed by three Germanic Mexicanists in their book Eine Kleine Geschichte México 2007 for a German-speaking public. On the basis of a historiographical study, the research shows the approaches from which Pietchman, Tobler and Bernecker interpret the history of Mexico in its major historical periods. The analysis consists of three parts: the first deals with the context of the book itself and its genesis, describing the history of the links between Mexico and Germany and the history of scientific and academic interest in Latin America as well as the academic relationship between Germany and Spain; the second part offers a study of the historiographical traditions of the three authors; and the third part presents the historiographical analysis of three major periods: pre-Hispanic Mexico and the conquest, 2. independence from Spain and the 19th century, and 3. the 20th and 21st century. The study also offers elements of an in-depth interview with historian Horst Pietchmann.
