Vitamin C can be related to positive effects of its use in individuals with COPD. Ascorbic acid is a potent antioxidant and can protect the tissues that suffer damage caused by oxidative compounds arising from COPD. However, more studies are needed to confirm this relationship by evaluating oxidative stress as well as antioxidants among COPD patients. Although there are few specific studies on the effects of ascorbic acid in the prevention, staging, treatment, and an improvement in the quality of life of individuals with COPD, vitamin C can be related to positive effects of its use in such patients.
