Since 2010, there has been an increase in efforts by African states to promote energy efficiency and the transition to renewable energy. However, it is clear that much remains to be done. These include mobilizing the necessary funding to support innovative and bankable projects, setting up tariff incentive mechanisms and guarantees of good governance and transparency in the energy sector, and finally, improving the policy and regulatory frameworks. This last shortcoming is by far one of the most important.
