O knihe
In this book, we seek to discuss the relationship between the work of the poet Jaime Caetano Braun from Rio Grande do Sul and the problem of poor land distribution in Rio Grande do Sul. Initially, we seek to point out the place that the poet, called El Payador, occupies within the regionalism of Rio Grande do Sul, relating the works of the author with what was produced by the groups of 20 and the Literary Parthenon. Next, we highlight the aesthetic elements based on the idealization of the figure of the inhabitant of Rio Grande do Sul, originating the "Myth of the Gaúcho Hero". This analysis is based on what Antonio Candido tells us about Indianism in Brazil, seeking to identify how this aesthetic element appears in Braun's poetry. We also discuss how the development in the south of the country of a poetic work with some of the characteristics of the literary texts celebrated in the phase called by Candido a mild awareness of the backwardness. Finally, we compare what is discussed in Jaime's poetry, relating the representation of the gaucho character with the political situation experienced in Brazil, where the country man started to live in the city due to the total lack of an effective and fair agrarian reform policy.
