Senegal is experiencing strong demographic growth, while the supply of social services and opportunities for integration into the labor market are very limited, leading to the emergence of informal activities. The economy's production is also very vulnerable to internal supply shocks and is not sufficiently resilient to external shocks. The country faces other major challenges related to, among other things, competitive costs, the adequacy of training to the needs of the economy, the elimination of the infrastructure deficit for internal access and the strengthening of regional interconnections, the preservation of the environment and the guarantee of sustainable management of natural resources, the financing of economic activities and the lack of budgetary leeway for social services, the improvement of governance and equity, and the efficiency of the administration, not to mention the problems of the informal sector.
