This book investigates how J. M. Coetzee and Nadine Gordimer depict the struggle to gain power in the light of the new historicist approach. Both novelists focus on the relationship between the ruled and the ruler, illustrating how blacks refute the idea of being subjugated by whites during the apartheid era in South Africa.
