Excerpt from Flemington: Where Town and Country Meet
In 1894 the Flemington Electric Light, Heat and Power Company was chartered. An up - to - date plant was built - a con tract was entered into with our town authorities for a street light ing service, consisting mostly of arc lights, with only a few in candescent lights. This contract has been renewed with the same company for street lighting from time to time. At this time we are lighting the town with fifty-one arc and a dozen incandescent lights, and the Electric Company is newly equipping its plant with dynamos and new arc lamps, placing the plant in first class condition. The streets are as well lighted as any in the State. About thirty - five hundred incandescent lights are supplied by this com pany to more than well pleased private customers.
