O knihe

UNESCO estimated 160 000 students from Sub Saharan Africa (>7% of total) studying abroad in 2004. More than 12% students at higher education institutions in Namibia are international students. In this background objective of the project was to study trends in higher education, determine cross border enrollments, make need assessment and suggest measures to position Namibia as exporter of higher education in the region. The findings from international students evidenced demand for and satisfaction with quality of programs, service delivery, law and order in country but difficulty in obtaining visa, getting accommodation and cultural and ethnic differences. To attract more international students, improve access and quality of higher education and achieve sustainable competitive advantage higher education institutions in Namibia should show commitment to quality in all processes, ease immigration, provide adequate and affordable hostel accommodation, tutorial support, internship opportunity, new programs with regional and international relevance, collaboration with industry, tie ups with institutions for cross boarder mobility and credit transfer and vigorously market the programs.
