O knihe
R. K. Narayan was born on 10th of October, 1906. He is a versatile writer and well-known Indian English novelist who has given a new direction to the art of fiction writing. He is among the three pillars who has given a new paradigm to fiction dealing with contemporary themes. He was born in a Brahmin family. He spent his life in the city of Mysore in South India. His huge qualitative publications made him popular. The themes of his works are Indian myths, man-woman relationship, marital disharmony etc. The magic of Indian life and Malgudi is found in Narayan's fiction. Narayan's novels depict the genuine human condition on the account of various involvements and finally end up in isolation by presenting such characters who go through a series of frustrations. Narayan's treatment lies in highlighting the fluid nature of the protagonist's character sandwiched between different identities. Narayan puts forward his characters in a new world of the reality of consciousness in fiction and places them in a position where they find themselves. It is truly the large human concern that characterizes his characters and makes him a novelist of broad vision encompassing the whole of humanity. He has an extraordinary, penetrating and sensitive understanding of human beings of both men and women. He understands the finest shades of social and personal feelings, can see deeply and very clearly the springs of emotion. His approach towards his characters is generally realistic.
