Compared to Ayurveda or Yoga, which by now have been included into western style medical research, Vastu Shastra is a new subject in the context of European science. This work should be regarded as a kind of first step or preliminary study aiming to bridge the gap between two ways of thinking rooted in two different philosophical and cultural worlds. Vastu Shastra has been presented in the language of the past days. But this does not mean that it is not valid knowledge. In order to evaluate its relevance for the complicated problems of the present world, we need cooperation between scholars who are equally proficient in Western knowledge as well as in Indian traditional knowledge of Shastras. Only then it can be found out whether and how Indian traditional knowledge of Shastras can be fruitfully used in our modern world. Besides providing the fundamental reasons behind the Vaastu principles, this book also aims to understand these fundamental principles and to analyse the blueprint it provides for a design system.
