O knihe

Living in an era that lays great emphasis on the philosophy of war is one of the reasons of this study. Almost all scholarly and critical studies in this field had been dedicated to one or two poets, mostly male. During wartime and after, male poets prevailed upon female poets. A simple justification of this is that publishing houses were dominated by men. Not only that, historians, editors, literary critics, anthology editors and all publishers were men. Women were living in a man-controlled world. However, this does not mean that women's writings were totally dismissed from war anthologies; they only did not receive adequate critical attention as men did. The war helped to create a place for women in both the home front and the battlefront. The war was pivotal for all British women. In order to know the whole story of the war, women's voices should be heard, and their poetry should be included.
