Believing that the library facilities in and around Boston offered the best chance for securing such information as was desired, the Association recommended that the Boston branch should undertake the work of pre paring a Bibliography. The initial step towards bringing together the cata logue was taken by a committee of the Branch under the direction of Miss Eliza P. Huntington who was obliged later, on account of sickness, to te sxgn her place, and the charge then fell to Miss Mary H. Rollins. At the suggestion of Mrs. Martha F oote Crow, director of the Bureau of Collegiate Information, Miss Rollins agreed to carry on the work as a sub-committee of the Bureau, and in that capacity was able to secure an appropriation for clerical assistance from the General Association to complete the work.

It is to the patient and untiring industry of Miss Rollins that the pres ent compilation is largely due.
