O knihe

Ireland is a fascinating country with its own labour law challenges as an economically emerging location and centre of attraction for international companies and employees from all over the world. The legal system is a unique mixture influenced by both British common law and EU law. The work covers the most important fundamentals of labour law, including regulations on employment contracts, employee rights, protection against dismissal and co-determination. It highlights both the rights and duties of employers and employees and provides a practical overview of case law and legislation in Ireland. In addition, the book is dedicated to the principles of Irish social law and addresses the essential aspects of social security. Questions about health, unemployment and pension insurance are explained in a clear and comprehensive way. The social security framework is presented with regard to Irish peculiarities, so that both employers and employees can understand how they are protected in different life situations and what contributions are to be made. Another chapter deals with income tax law. It explains how the Irish tax system is structured, what tax obligations employees and employers have and what tax deductions or reliefs are possible. A particular focus is on the labour and social regulations for foreign employees and companies that need to familiarise themselves with the Irish legal system. Topics such as visa requirements, work permits and tax specifics are covered in detail.
