The author makes no excuse for the "preachy" parts of this work as his purpose is to share the "good news" as he has experienced it in his life. In reading this devotional, then, it is hoped that the reader will "taste" the influence of a life lived from a small-town boy raised in Western Pennsylvania at a time when family, love of God and country, respect for authority, and a strong work ethic were the norm, rather than the exception.
